Final jury

First of all, i would like to mention about my own experiences about meke maar. In our trip, we could not experience one part of meke maar because of the hills. I specify that part as dead zone. The hills are natural borders which are blocking our visual relation with topography. Natural borders effected our perception, because we could not sense the dead zone is continious, so we prefer the other part of meke maar where we have a stronger visual relation with topograpy. I raised the water level to keep people in higher parts of the topograpy. When people experience the topograpy in higher places, the effect of the blocking elements (the hills) is decreasing in terms of visual relations. I utilize the water as another natural border to decrease the effect of blocking elements, so i create a balanced composition in terms of visual relations. There will not be a hierarchy between dead zone and the other zone anymore. That is the aim and the strategy of the approach. In sum, after i raised the water level the blocking elements treat like integration areas between land and water. I chose those integration areas to work. Another observation that i made is, meke maar creates a circulation itself with it’s corridor like organization. Then i decided to create circulations in those integration areas. The circulation provided by skywalks. Skywalks gives the best view in easiest way. The shape and location of the skywalk arranged according to visuality. I tried to maximize the visual connection between skywalks and topograpy with curvy parts. Before skywalks, it is hard to walk in those areas. We have primary and secondary skywalks. Primary skywalk is the shortest way to complete the circulation. Secondary skywalks are transportation for aditional areas. Those two skywalks have different characteristic from each other. Primary skywalk is not effected from topograpy, it is like an alien thing in meke maar. It is always in the same height with repetition of linear elements. Secondary skywalk is working with topograpy, it is height is always changing, sometimes it has a physical connection with the topography. Secondary skywalks formed by variation of masses. I always consider the movement of a person while make a decision in skywalks, because movement provides rhythm. Structure elements are also repeating themselves in primary skywalk. However in secondary skywalk, structure elements are variations of each other. We can talk about unity in that context. The units are not just to keep up the skywalks, it also has design decisions in both of the skywalks. In physical connection of two skywalks, i created recreational areas. I need recreational areas because one circulation is approximitely 1.3 km long. Then, i create 3 recreational areas in connection of skywalks.
